Kenyan MP Martha Wangari has taken drastic measures to protect her children from her husband, Peter Njoroge Karanja, who is a suspect in the high-profile murder of Dutch tycoon Tob Cohen.
On October 9, 2019, Wangari filed an application in court seeking a restraining order against her husband, citing the potential harm that their children could suffer due to his alleged involvement in the crime.
According to the application, Wangari is concerned that her children may be ridiculed, stressed, or stigmatized if they interact with Karanja, who is currently facing criminal proceedings.
Wangari also argued that Karanja's character and reputation are inconsistent with the best interest of their children, and that it would be unfair for them to interact with someone who is suspected of violence and immorality.
She further stated that Karanja has absconded his fatherly duties, leaving her to provide for the children's needs, including housing, food, education, and care.
Wangari's application was filed under a certificate of urgency by her lawyer, George Kimani, and is pending in a Naivasha court.
