Citizen TV to Air INEOS 1:59 as Kenyans Cheer on Eliud Kipchoge

Kenyan marathoner Eliud Kipchoge is gearing up for a historic attempt to run a sub-two-hour marathon in Vienna, Austria, this weekend. The event, INEOS 1:59, will be broadcast live on Citizen TV.

On Tuesday, Kipchoge was spotted with several pacemakers on their first run on the INEOS 1:59 course. Pictures of the marathoner showed him preparing for the historic run.

As Kipchoge gears up for the INEOS 1:59 challenge, Kenyans continue to root for him, taking to social media to post messages of goodwill. Kenyan professional footballer Victor Wanyama, who plays for Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur and captains the Kenyan national team, wished Kipchoge the best in a tweet:

Let me take this earliest opportunity to wish my friend and countryman @EliudKipchoge the best in the @INEOS159 in Vienna Austria this weekend. I believe you in your capability will run that marathon in 1:59 bro. — Victor Wanyama (@VictorWanyama) October 9, 2019

Other messages of support for Kipchoge poured in on Twitter, with many Kenyans expressing their confidence in his ability to break the two-hour barrier.

On Monday evening, when Kipchoge was about to leave the country aboard a private jet, the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority broadcasted a message through the intercom, saluting the marathoner.
