Old Mutual's 'Amazing Voices' singing competition is set to premiere in 2020, offering a grand prize of KSh 10 million ($100,000) to a Kenyan musical group.
On January 12, 2020, the competition will air on DStv and GOtv, featuring contestants from Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.
Auditions for the competition are currently ongoing in Mombasa, having started on October 8th, and will conclude on October 9th at the Reef Hotel. The auditions will then take place in Nairobi from October 11th to 12th at the UAP Old Mutual Offices, Upper Hill.
The competition will run for 13 weeks, concluding on April 5, 2020, and will seek to unearth unsigned talent across three genres: gospel, pop, and rhythm and blues (R&B).
Sanaipei Tande and Kavutha Mwanzia-Asiyo have been named as the Kenyan judges for the auditions, alongside judges from each of the other three countries.
According to Carol Kipsanai, Group Head of Marketing and Communications at UAP Old Mutual, 'We believe that music is a universal language, and we're excited to be the title sponsor for a show that will bring Africa together in a unique and uplifting way.'
The show will be broadcast on various channels, including Mzansi Magic, Mzansi Wethu, Africa Magic, Maisha Magic East, and Zambezi Magic, at 18:00 Kenyan time and 17:00 South African time.
