Kenyan athlete Eliud Kipchoge has been pushing the boundaries of human endurance in the marathon, and his latest attempt to break the 2-hour barrier is set to captivate the nation.
On October 12th, Kipchoge will take on the INEOS 1:59 Challenge, a feat that has never been achieved before. His first attempt in May 2017 in Monza, Italy, came 26 seconds short of the record.
Thanks to Safaricom, Kipchoge's 33 million fans will be able to watch the live stream of the event for free. By dialling 159# on the race day, subscribers can activate a YouTube bundle that will allow them to stream the race on their mobile devices from 8AM to 4PM.
But that's not all - Safaricom is also offering a unique way for fans to show their support for Kipchoge. By sending a text to 159, customers can send free messages that will be displayed live on broadcast TV feeds during the race.
As Kipchoge prepares to take on the challenge, his partnership with Safaricom has been marked by a temporary change to the M-Pesa logo, reflecting the company's rallying campaign around the star athlete's momentous challenge.
