At the Rugby World Cup, England prop Ellis Genge's transition from 'baby rhino' to wannabe comedian ended in disaster.
When asked by a French journalist about the England players' pre-game rituals, Genge seemed hesitant.
"We've got a song we sing at the end of the game," he said, before revealing that the team also shares jokes before training.
With his teammates egging him on, Genge decided to take the stage and deliver his first joke.
"I was an entrepreneur before I started playing rugby," he deadpanned, before delivering the punchline: "I invented the cold-air balloon, but it never really took off!"
The room fell silent, with many in the audience struggling to understand the joke.
"Tough crowd!" winced flanker Lewis Ludlam, while Genge shrugged it off, saying "They don't get it."
