On October 9, 2019, a Florida judge granted a default judgment against Birdman in the amount of $1,069,876, awarded to Nicolas Jose Penzo, his former property manager.
Penzo had filed a lawsuit against Birdman, Cash Money Records, and Pine View Management LLC in April 2018, claiming he worked as Birdman's property manager from 2015 to May 27, 2017, and was owed $150 per day.
According to court documents, Penzo performed various tasks, including painting, handling cleaning services, and coordinating with contractors, often working 48-60 hours a week without proper payment for overtime hours.
Penzo alleged that he was only paid every two or three months, sometimes with checks and mostly with cash, and was owed a total of $1,069,876, including $30,000 in unpaid wages and $1 million in compensatory damages for back pain and financial hardship.
Birdman failed to appear in court, despite being served with legal papers, leading to the default judgment.
As a result, Citibank will seize any money Birdman has in his account and turn it over to Penzo to satisfy the debt.
