Kenya's Harambee Starlets have made a significant step towards the 2020 Tokyo Olympics after eliminating Ghana in the third round of the qualifiers.

Gentrix Shikangwa, the match-winner, expressed confidence in Kenya's chances, stating that the win gives them the much-needed confidence for their next assignment.

Shikangwa scored the decisive penalty in extra time, and while admitting that it was a good feeling to down Ghana, she emphasized that the win is huge for the team.

"It's a good feeling, of course, since it's Ghana. They are one of the best teams in the continent, so the win is huge for us," Shikangwa said.

Shikangwa further stated that the team's hard training under their coaches has paid off, and the result is not a fluke.

"I don't think there was anything extraordinary we did. The coach told us to train hard because of the opponent, and we did just that. The result is just a product of putting in the shift in training," she added.

Next for Shikangwa and the team is a tie against Zambia, who eliminated Botswana in the third round.
