On Monday, October 7, Kenyatta University students went on strike, claiming injustice from the administration. Amidst the chaos, a student's video plea for his mother to send him bus fare went viral.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i declared October 10 a public holiday to mark Moi Day. In a gazette notice dated October 8, Matiang'i urged Kenyans to celebrate the day with selfless acts of service to their community.
