Facebook has taken a significant step in its efforts to combat misinformation on its platform by expanding its third-party fact-checking program to 15 African countries.
As of October 9, 2019, the program is now available in 10 countries, including Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Cameroon, and Senegal, in partnership with Agence France-Presse (AFP), France 24 Observers, Pesa Check, and Dubawa.
The expansion includes the addition of five new countries: Ethiopia, Zambia, Somalia, Burkina Faso, and Uganda, which will be covered by AFP and Pesa Check, while Democratic Republic of Congo, Cote d'Ivoire, Guinea Conakry, and Ghana will be covered by France 24 Observers and Dubawa.
