Manchester United's struggles continue as forward Mason Greenwood has been forced to pull out of the England Under-21 squad due to a back injury.
Greenwood, 18, was due to join Aidy Boothroyd's squad for the Young Lions' upcoming matches but has now been ruled out.
His injury adds to the team's woes following a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Newcastle on Sunday, which saw United's manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer under increasing pressure.
Greenwood's injury is the latest in a long list of absentees for United, with Anthony Martial, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Luke Shaw, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka all missing from the squad.
Victor Lindelof was also absent after picking up a knock in the Europa League draw with AZ Alkmaar.
United's poor form has seen them slip to 12th in the Premier League, five points off the top four and 15 behind Liverpool at the top.
Next up for the Red Devils is a visit from league leaders Liverpool, a defeat to which could see United drop into the relegation zone.
Greenwood's injury is a significant blow to United's chances, and the team will be hoping that he can recover quickly to return to action.
