On October 8, 2019, an Ethiopian Airlines jet made an emergency landing in Dakar, Senegal, after one of its engines caught fire.
The Boeing 767 aircraft had just taken off from Dakar airport en route to Addis Ababa when the pilot requested to return and make an emergency landing, according to Tidiane Tamba, a spokesperson for the Senegal airport.
Fortunately, all 90 passengers and crew on board were safe, despite the incident.
Notably, this emergency landing occurred just months after an Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 MAX crashed in March 2019, killing all 157 people on board.
