On October 8, 2019, the Public Accounts Committee, chaired by Senator Moses Kajwang', issued a stern warning to the Inspector General of Police, Mutyambai, to arrest and present Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua before the committee within 14 days.

The move comes after Mutua repeatedly disregarded invitations to appear before the committee, which is investigating graft charges against him.

Initially, Mutua was required to appear before the committee on September 2019, but he failed to do so, instead sending a letter claiming that Machakos Senator had rallied goons to accuse him of corruption.

Despite receiving three more invitations, Mutua continued to ignore the committee's summons, prompting the issuance of the arrest warrant.

According to the warrant, the Inspector General of Police has 14 days to arrest and present the governor before the committee, or risk facing criminal charges.

Mutua is among several county bosses accused of misappropriating public funds.
