Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders have threatened to storm the offices of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) over allegations that the electoral agency is conspiring with Jubilee Party leaders to rig the Kibra parliamentary by-election.

ODM director of elections, Junet Mohamed, claimed that two IEBC commissioners often dine and enjoy breakfast with a Jubilee Party leader from Northern Kenya, suggesting that these meetings are used to plot the lock-out of Imran Okoth, the ODM flag-bearer in Kibra.

“To express our disappointment at how IEBC is handling the planning of the Kibra by-election, we will be marching to the agency’s Anniversary Towers offices tomorrow at 9am,” said Junet in a press conference at Parliament Buildings on Tuesday.

ODM chairperson, John Mbadi, also piled pressure on the IEBC to make public the number of people registered to vote in Kibra, demanding transparency from the electoral agency.

“The IEBC has refused to learn from its past mistakes, including 2017. We demand transparency from them. Let them share with us details of their voters’ register in Kibra,” said Mbadi.
