Published on October 8, 2019, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has intensified the divisions within the ruling Jubilee Party by claiming that there are plans by a number of politicians from the Mt Kenya region to revive the deadly Mungiki sect and arm them ahead of 2022.

At his Kapseret constituency on Monday, Oscar Sudi accused Youth and Gender Chief Administrative Secretary Rachael Shebesh of regrouping the outlawed Mungiki sect, sparking a heated debate.

According to Sudi, Shebesh's actions are a threat to the peace and stability of the country, and he has called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to sack her from her position.

Shebesh has, however, defended her meeting with former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga, stating that as a government officer, she has a right to work with all Kenyans to deliver Uhuru's agenda.

Shebesh also clarified that the meeting was not about regrouping the Mungiki sect, but rather about supporting youths to invest in business.

“People like Shebesh lost touch with people. She’s busy regrouping Mungiki. Should anything happen, she should be held responsible. I don’t know why she was recruited to government,” Sudi said.

“I want President Uhuru Kenyatta to help us by sacking her. She’s only good at prostitution and her office should be Koinange. We can’t allow her to resurrect Mungiki,” he added.
