Kenya: Three Police Officers Linked to Robbery With Violence in Eastleigh

On October 4, 2019, three police officers were deployed in Kayole station area, but they left their post to commit a robbery in Eastleigh, Starehe division, with two other suspects who are still at large.

Corporal Wilson Cheruiyot, Police Constables Daniel Kipkorir, and Alex Kandie, all based at Kayole Police Station, were arrested alongside Cameroonian national Esome Jean Baptist for allegedly robbing traders Mohamed Hassan Mohamed and Abdulahhi Hussein Yusuf at Barwaqo Hotel.

According to Detective Isaac Kiplangat of Pangani Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the three officers were armed and deployed in Kayole station area on October 4, but they left their area of deployment and went to Eastleigh, where they committed the offence.

Principal Magistrate Steve Jalang'o allowed Kiplangat to hold the suspects until Wednesday, pending further investigations into the robbery.
