Equity Bank Celebrates 35 Years of Service

On October 3, 2019, Equity Bank celebrated 35 years of service with a grand ceremony at the Comesa grounds in Nairobi, Kenya. The event was attended by customers, staff, and dignitaries, and featured speeches, music, and a rebranding of the bank to simply 'Equity'.

The ceremony was held in a large tent, which was elaborately decorated with artificial tiles to create a comfortable atmosphere. The event started with fireworks over the iconic KICC, followed by a dedication of the bank by a group of bishops and a sermon.

Equity Bank's founder, Peter Munga, was honored with a traditional stool, a flywhisk, and a walking stick. He used the flywhisk to try and 'bless' the board members, bringing a light moment to the ceremony.

Among the highlights of the event was the rebranding of the bank to simply 'Equity', which is a simpler logo that reflects the bank's humble roots in Murang'a. The bank's logo now looks more modern and sleek, and is expected to appeal to a wider audience.

Deputy Central Bank of Kenya Governor Sheila M'Mbijjewe alluded to the need for local banks to grow and expand, and Equity Bank's celebration was seen as a testament to the bank's success in achieving this goal.

As Equity Bank looks to the future, it is clear that the bank has come of age and is ready to take on new challenges. With its rebranding and expansion plans, Equity Bank is poised to become a major player in the Kenyan banking sector and beyond.

As the bank celebrates 35 years of service, it is worth asking what the future holds for Equity Bank. Will it continue to grow and expand, or will it face new challenges and obstacles? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain - Equity Bank is a force to be reckoned with in the Kenyan banking sector.
