Published on October 8, 2019, Moses Kuria, a vocal MP from Gatundu, has shed light on the reasons behind the increasing popularity of Deputy President William Ruto among MPs.
According to Kuria, Ruto's accessibility and willingness to address the concerns of MPs have made him a favorite among the legislative body.
"Wabunge wengi kutoka Mt Kenya wanamfuata Ruto. Kutokana na yale nimepata, wengi wao wanasema wanaenda kwa Ruto kwani hapo ndipo wanapata upendo. Nafikiri Ruto huwapa upendo na kuwaskiza," Kuria said in an interview with K24 on October 6.
Kuria warned that if MPs prioritize their personal interests over the needs of the entire region, they risk losing the support of their constituents.
"Wakati naona wakishindana ni nani yuko mwaminifu zaidi kwa nani, najiuliza kama wanajali eneo letu, ambalo liko na kura milioni sita, litapata nini," he asked.
The growing divide between the Tangatanga and Kieleweke factions within the Jubilee Party has raised concerns about the country's stability ahead of the 2022 general elections.
