Published on October 8, 2019, a murder case in Kiambu High Court was delayed after a businessman filed an application to release his car, which has been held at the DCI headquarters since January.

Businessman Ephantus Nyaga Njagi had hired out the car to one of the accused, Judy Wangui Mungai, before it was impounded. Nyaga feared his vehicle would be vandalised at the DCI headquarters and would cause him massive losses.

“Unless this application is allowed, I stand to continue suffering grave and irreparable financial losses and damage,” Nyaga said in his court documents.

The case, in which Wangui and Michel Githae Mathenge were charged with the murder of businesswoman Mary Wambui Kamangara, was set to start yesterday. However, the new application by Nyaga delayed the proceedings.

The case will be heard on June 10 and 11, 2020, while Nyaga's application will be heard on November 4.
