ICRC Staffer Fired for Allegedly Insulting Kenyan at Lavington Mall

On October 7, 2019, a disturbing incident occurred at Lavington Mall in Nairobi, where a foreigner allegedly insulted a Kenyan security guard, calling him a monkey.

According to eyewitnesses, the foreigner, whose name has not been released, was reportedly being calmed down by the guard when the insult was made.

The incident sparked outrage on social media, with many Kenyans calling for the foreigner to be deported.

Responding to the incident, the ICRC stated that it had met with witnesses and had terminated the foreigner's assignment in Kenya.

The ICRC also expressed appreciation for those who came forward to report the incident, saying, "We appreciate those who came forward and reported the incident, especially those who made time to meet with our team."

"The ICRC has a long presence in Kenya, one that has been made possible by our relationships with the public, Kenyan authorities, our partners at the Kenya Red Cross, our dedicated staff, and above all, the communities we are here to serve," the ICRC added.
