On October 7, 2019, tensions in the Rift Valley region of Kenya reached a boiling point, with accusations of inciting violence flying back and forth between politicians.
At the center of the storm is Maina Kamanda, a member of parliament who has been accused of stirring up trouble in the region.
According to his colleague, Oscar Sudi, Kamanda's words have been fueling tensions between the Kikuyu and Kalenjin communities.
Sudi, who represents the Kapseret constituency, has called on Kamanda to stop making inflammatory statements that are causing divisions in the region.
"I want to remind Kamanda that President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto came together to bring peace to Kenya when it was at war with itself," Sudi said in a Facebook post.
"You cannot continue to incite violence because of petty politics, I condemn you for making inflammatory statements," he added.
Sudi has also asked the Director of Criminal Investigations, George Kinoti, to take action against Kamanda.
"If George Kinoti is doing his job, then he should ensure that Kamanda is arrested immediately," Sudi said.
He also challenged anyone who was evicted from their farm to come forward and complete their story.
Meanwhile, Kamanda has denied the allegations, saying that he was simply speaking the truth about the situation in the region.
