Three Police Officers Linked to Eastleigh Robbery Remanded

On October 7, 2019, a Nairobi court remanded three police officers accused of robbing two businessmen of Sh 6 million in Eastleigh.

The suspects, Corporal Wilson Cheruiyot, Police Constables Daniel Kipkorir, and Alex Kandie, are SPIV officers based at Kayole Police Station.

They were arrested alongside Cameroonian national Esome Jean Baptist and are being held as investigations into the incident continue.

The robbery allegedly occurred at Barwaqo Hotel, where traders Mohamed Hassan Mohamed and Abdulahhi Hussein Yusuf were targeted.

According to Detective Isaac Kiplangat of the Pangani Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the suspects were armed and deployed in Kayole station area on October 4, 2019, before leaving their area of deployment to commit the offence in Eastleigh.

Principal Magistrate Steve Jalang'o allowed Kiplangat to hold the suspects until Wednesday, pending further investigations.
