On October 5, Liverpool star Mohamed Salah suffered a twisted ankle in the Reds' 2-1 win over Leicester City, according to reports on Monday.
Salah hobbled off in added time after being caught on the left ankle by a lunge from Leicester's Hamza Choudhury, who was booked for the challenge.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp described the challenge as "dangerous as hell" and believed Choudhury should have been sent off.
Salah had already been excused from Egypt's friendly against Botswana on October 14, with Pharaohs head coach Hossam El Badry saying his star player "must rest".
Despite the injury, Liverpool struck late through James Milner's penalty to open up an eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League.
With Manchester United already 15 points behind in 12th place, Liverpool can rub more salt into their rivals' wounds in their upcoming clash on October 20.
However, it remains too early in the healing process for the medical staff to make a decision on Salah's availability for the match.
