Police Informer Reveals Chilling Details of Lawyer Willy Kimani's Murder

On October 7, 2019, a confession made by one of the suspects in the murder of lawyer Willy Kimani, his client Josephat Mwenda, and taxi driver Joseph Muiruri was presented in court.

According to the confession, the murder was planned and executed by four police officers from Mlolongo Administration Police post, including Fredrick Leliman, Stephen Cheburet, Sylvia Wanjiku, and Leonard Maina Mwangi.

The police informer, Peter Ngugi, revealed that Leliman suffocated the three victims with a polythene bag and strangled them with a rope before dumping their bodies in a river.

Ngugi's confession, which was read out in court by Chief Inspector Geoffrey Kinyua, detailed how Leliman approached him in April 2016, seeking his help in what would turn out to be the murder of Kimani, Mwenda, and Muiruri.

Ngugi was paid a meager Ksh.2,000 for his role in the murder plot, which involved following the complainant after the court attendance and keeping Leliman informed about the man's movement.

On June 22, 2016, Ngugi met with Leliman, who told him that the said case against him was set for hearing on June 23 and he had no option but to eliminate the complainant.

The police informer's confession revealed that the three victims were abducted while leaving the court and forced to get into Leliman's car. They were then taken to a bush, where they were killed using a polythene bag and a rope.

After the killings, the bodies were thrown into the river. The police informer, Ngugi, was left in the bar where he slept on the seat, having had a lot of beer that forced him into a black out.
