Menengai Oilers head coach Gibson Weru has attributed his team's success in the Impala Floodlit tournament to co-operation and proper planning.

Published on October 7, 2019, the team qualified for their maiden cup final after defeating Kenya Harlequins 30-21 in the semi-finals.

Weru, a former Shujaa player, believes that the key to their success lies in their ability to work together and implement their plans effectively.

‘We formed the club four years ago and we have been growing with time so I think for us it’s just a continuous thing and our target is to continue getting better,’ Weru said.

Weru is optimistic that his team will defeat defending champions KCB in the finals, citing their impressive performance in the preseason and their last two matches in the tournament.

However, Weru acknowledged that there are areas that need improvement, particularly in their defense, before they take on KCB.

The Impala Floodlit tournament has been a valuable experience for the team as they prepare for their 2019/2020 Kenya Cup opener match against Top Fry Nakuru on October 26.
