On October 7, 2019, Harambee Starlets coach David Ouma expressed confidence in the team's chances of qualifying for the 2020 Olympics after holding Ghana to a draw in the first leg of their qualifier.

Speaking at the Kasarani Stadium, Ouma said the team's performance in the return leg against Ghana would be crucial in determining their qualification for the Olympics.

“Ghana were match favourites and we managed to hold them at their own backyard. But now we host them, we have home advantage and the players are confident of a good result,” Ouma said.

He added that the team would create chances in the return leg and make use of them, as they had done in their previous match against Malawi.

“Since we played a defending game away, we will be creating chances tomorrow (Tuesday) and make use of it,” Ouma said.

Starlets' captain Dorcas Shikobe said the team would go for a win in the return leg, while speedy forward Mwanahalima Adam expressed confidence in the team's ability to stop the Ghanaians.

Ghana arrived in the country on Monday morning and were due to have a feel of the pitch later that evening.
