Former Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale is in mourning following the death of his wife, Adelaide Shikanga, on Saturday morning.
Adelaide, who had been battling cervical cancer since 2003, breathed her last in the arms of her loving husband.
Boni, a medical doctor, was alerted by the housegirl that Adelaide had fallen unconscious and immediately sprang into action to try and resuscitate her.
However, despite his best efforts, Adelaide passed away during the resuscitation process, leaving Boni heartbroken.
According to Boni, his wife had undergone successful chemotherapy at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, where her cancer was cleared two months ago.
