On October 6, 2019, Bandari head coach Bernard Mwalala attributed their 2-1 loss to Sofapaka in the Kenyan Premier League to poor officiating.

Mwalala questioned the level of officiating in the top-tier league, stating that it contributed to their defeat.

He lamented, 'The league has got no sponsor and things like this will dent the credibility of our league.'

Former Kenya international Mwalala urged the Kenya Premier League to take action against 'poor referees' to restore their confidence in the competition.

Meanwhile, Sofapaka coach Divaldo Alves was delighted with the victory ahead of the international break.

Alves attributed their win to teamwork, saying, 'A team like Sofapaka must fight for three points because we want to be champions. The team played together and that’s why we have won.'

Brian Nyakan scored the winning goal to earn Sofapaka the victory, stretching their points tally to 7 from five games.
