On Sunday morning, 6 October 2019, Argentine footballer Ezequiel Esperon, 23, tragically lost his life after falling from a sixth-floor terrace in the Buenos Aires neighbourhood of Villa Devoto.

Esperon was partying with friends at an apartment when the incident occurred just before 3am. He is believed to have fallen after leaning on a railing that had not been closed properly and gave way under his weight.

Esperon began his professional career with Buenos Aires club All Boys before joining Brazilian side Sport Club Internacional and later moving to Mexico with his last club, Atlante de Mexico.

His death was met with shock and condolences from the football community, with Club Atletico All Boys stating, 'All Boys is deeply saddened by the death of Ezequiel Esperon who played in our youth sides. Our condolences to his family, loved ones and friends.'

Esperon's close friend, Alexis Mac Allister, who plays for Boca Juniors, took to Instagram to post a picture of his friend alongside the message, 'Today your loved ones have another angel in Heaven. We will always remember you.'

Police have launched an investigation into the incident, but have stated that there is no evidence of foul play and everything points towards Esperon losing his life as the result of a tragic accident.
