On Sunday, 6 October, the first season of East Africa Got Talent (EAGT) came to a close in Nairobi, Kenya.
The Ugandan duo of Esther and Ezekiel Mutesasira, aged 14 and 11 respectively, stole the show with their angelic voices, leaving many in awe.
The siblings were favourites from the start and received positive reviews from judges Jeff Koinange, Gaetano Kagwa, Makeda, Vanessa Mdee, and host Anne Kansiime.
President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda joined thousands of fans in congratulating the duo, tweeting:
My grandchildren have told me about our talented bazukulu Esther and Ezekiel, who have won an East African Talent competition this evening. I am told they are very good singers. I congratulate them.
The EAGT competition drew participants from four countries: Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, and hosts Kenya. The other finalists included Kenya's Janella Tamara, Spellcast, Rwanda's Inteyoberana cultural troupe, and several Ugandan groups.
