On October 7, 2019, a tragic incident occurred in Korongoi sub-location, Bureti constituency, Kericho county, where a 26-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing his father over a cup of milk.
According to Bureti Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) Felicia Nafula, the suspect, identified as Philemon Kipngetich Ngetich, got into a heated argument with his father, the late Samuel Kipngetich Rotich, around midnight over the milk.
The suspect allegedly picked a wooden plank from a broken table and hit his father several times in the head, resulting in fatal injuries.
The old man was rushed to AIC Mission Hospital Litein, where he was admitted but later succumbed to his injuries at around 1:30am on Monday morning.
The widow of the deceased man reported the incident at Litein Police Station after her husband was pronounced dead, and the police immediately arrested the suspect, who is currently in police custody pending further investigations.
