Teacher Arrested for Alleged Defilement ¶
On Saturday, October 5, 2019, police officers in Itumbe, Kisii, stormed a secondary school teacher's house and found him with a female Form Three student in his house.
The police acted on a tip-off from members of the public who saw the minor entering the teacher's house in Itibo market. The teacher allegedly locked the girl in his house with motives that are the subject of an ongoing investigation.
The teacher was arrested and taken to Itumbe Police Station pending investigations. Kisii County Police Commander Martin Kibet confirmed the incident, stating that the minor was taken to hospital for examination to ascertain whether she was defiled.
The teacher will remain in custody until the medical examination is done and a report given.
Just last week, another teacher was arraigned in a Chuka court for allegedly defiling one of his students. Peterson Bundi, a Geography/Christian Religious Education teacher at Chief Mbogori Girls' High School in Tharaka-Nithi County, allegedly summoned the Form 2 girl to his office on Friday, September 27 at around 6:30 am during morning preps before committing the indecent act.
