On October 7, 2019, Moses Kuria, the Gatundu South MP, made a televised statement on K24's Punchline Show, expressing his concerns about selling Raila Odinga to the people of Mt Kenya.
However, Ngunjiri Wambugu, the Nyeri Town MP, has come out to clarify that Kieleweke is not campaigning for Raila Odinga in the Mt Kenya region. Instead, they are focused on ensuring President Uhuru Kenyatta gets the space and time he requires to complete his term and deliver his legacy.
Wambugu emphasized that Mt Kenya region will buy Raila Odinga 100% if President Uhuru sells him to the region. He cited the example of William Ruto, who was sold to the region by President Uhuru Kenyatta and was eventually accepted by the people of Mt Kenya.
Wambugu reminded Moses Kuria that President Uhuru sold William Ruto to the region when he was not even the President. Now that he is the head of state, if he decides to rally the region behind Raila Odinga, the outcome would be of great impact.
Wambugu's statement has sparked a heated debate in the region, with many people weighing in on the issue.
