October 7, 2019, marked a significant day for science education in Africa as Peter Tabichi, the 2019 Global Teacher Prize winner, shared his innovative teaching methods with UK teachers.
Brother Tabichi, a member of the St. Francis Friar, is on a tour of Europe and the United States, where he has been sharing his experiences with educators and policymakers.
During his visit to London's Science Museum, Brother Tabichi participated in a session with top UK teachers at the Science Museum Group Academy, where they explored ways to engage young people in science.
"When I teach my students about the world and why it turns, when I show them how the basic forces of our planet work, I see the wonder in their eyes," Brother Tabichi said, highlighting the importance of hands-on learning.
He also emphasized the need for STEM education in Africa, urging UN member states to support the cause during his keynote address at the 74th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
