On Sunday, siblings Esther and Ezekiel Mutesasira, children of gospel artiste Juliet Mutesasira, were crowned the winners of the inaugural East Africa's Got Talent reality show in Nairobi.

They beat five other contestants from East Africa to pocket a cool Sh5 million in prize money.

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni congratulated the siblings on their win, saying, 'My grandchildren have told me about our talented bazukulu (grandchildren) Esther and Ezekiel who have won an East African Talent competition this (Sunday) evening. I am told they are very good singers. I congratulate them,' he tweeted.

The competition, which offers a platform for participants of all ages throughout four East African countries of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda, featured a panel of four judges, including award-winning Kenyan journalist Jeff Koinange and Ugandan radio host Gaetano Kagwa.

Hosted by celebrated Ugandan comedian Anne Kansiime, the show also featured other notable contestants, including Rwanda's cultural troupe Intayoberana and Kenyan child sensation Janelle Tamara.
