On November 7, 2019, the Kibra constituency held a by-election, which was marred by allegations of voter bribery.

Opposition politicians, including ODM and ANC, accused the Tanga Tanga faction of Jubilee Party of buying votes for its candidate, McDonald Mariga.

ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna and Makadara MP George Aladwa told voters to 'eat' the money but vote for ODM candidate Bernard Imran Okoth.
