On Sunday evening, a devastating incident occurred in Kimatisio village, Chepalungu, Bomet County, where a 13-year-old Class Six pupil took his own life.

According to area chief David Marusoi, the boy's body was found hanging from the roof of his parents' house with a piece of cloth tied around his neck.

Chief Marusoi confirmed that everyone was away during the incident, and it was his grandfather who noticed the body dangling on the roof, raising an alarm and alerting the neighbours.

Police are waiting for the boy's parents to calm down before recording a statement on the incident.

The boy's body was moved to Longisa Hospital mortuary.

This tragic event comes barely a month after a 13-year-old girl at Kabiangek Primary School in Bomet committed suicide, allegedly due to being humiliated for having her period in class.
