Court Shocked as Police Informer Reveals Details of Lawyer Willie Kimani's Murder

On October 7, 2019, a court was left stunned as a police informer, Peter Ngugi, took the stand to read his confession in the murder case of lawyer Willie Kimani and his clients, Josphat Mwenda and Joseph Muiruri.

Ngugi's confession revealed the gruesome details of how the three men were killed by police officers in 2016. According to Ngugi, he was recruited as a police informer in 2011 and was tasked with following the targets and reporting back to the police.

Ngugi's confession stated that he was tasked with following Mwenda, a bodaboda rider, in April 2016. He was given Sh2,000 to share with the lady who identified the target. Ngugi followed Mwenda to court and stood guard while the case was being heard.

After the case ended, Ngugi and another man entered a vehicle, and Ngugi then went to Leliman's car and found a sergeant Mwangi. The car that was with the wanted men passed them, and Leliman followed them. They caught up with them at a railway station, and Mwangi removed his walkie-talkie and told them they were under arrest.

Ngugi's confession stated that his job was also to dispose of the vehicle that had three occupants. The plan was to drive to Meru and dispose of it there, but Leliman cautioned against this, saying that the taxi operated in Zimmerman, and it would be dangerous to use that road.

Ngugi said that he went back to Mlolongo at around 5 pm and met Leliman, Mwangi, and two other officers in a bar. Leliman then told him that the three victims had been locked at Syokimau AP post and were safe there.

However, at 7 pm, while at Connections Bar, Leliman was called and informed that one of the three had managed to make a phone call to his wife about their arrest. Ngugi says in the confession that they were all shocked at the developing events.

They drove to the post and when they arrived, Leliman took the three victims and put them in his car boot while handcuffed from behind. From there, they drove to a busy area just near the highway. In a bush, they started disagreeing on how to execute the three. Ngugi adds that they argued for about three hours on what to do before they finally killed them.

Ngugi's confession revealed the chilling details of how the three men were killed, including how they were strangled to death and their bodies dumped in the Ol Donyo Sabuk river.
