On October 7, 2019, a tragic incident occurred in Korongoi sub location, Bureti constituency, Kericho County, where a 65-year-old man, Samuel Kipngetich Rotich, was killed by his 26-year-old son, Philemon Kipngetich Ngetich, over a cup of milk.
According to Bureti Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) Felicia Nafula, the incident occurred at around midnight when the two men picked a quarrel. The younger man then picked a wooden plank from a broken table and hit his father several times in the head, critically injuring him.
The victim was rushed to the AIC Mission Hospital Litein, where he was admitted with severe head injuries. Unfortunately, at about 1:30 am, the victim succumbed to the injuries, as confirmed by Nafula.
The deceased's widow reported the incident at Litein police station at around 4:30 am. The suspect, Philemon Kipngetich Ngetich, was traced and is now in custody. He will be arraigned in court once the police complete their investigations.
The body of the deceased is lying at the AIC Litein hospital mortuary pending autopsy.
