On October 7, 2019, Nakuru County National Agriculture and Rural Inclusive Growth Project (NARIGP) Coordinator Njoroge Githunguri urged the youth to consider agriculture as a viable alternative source of income.
Githunguri argued that agriculture presents the biggest opportunity for creating employment and enhancing food security in the country.
He emphasized that the youth can use theatre and arts to change perceptions about farming and reach a wider audience.
According to Githunguri, Kenyan youth can exploit information technology for various value-addition ventures in agri-business.
The project, which is funded by the World Bank, aims to increase agricultural productivity and improve food security in 420 wards within devolved units.
Under the project, Nakuru County has been able to fund 8 Community Driven Development Committees (CDDCs) and 217 micro project proposals to the tune of Ksh 9,564,920.
