Kenya: Rhonex Bags 10,000m Bronze in Doha Finale

On October 7, 2019, Rhonex Kipruto, a World Under-20 champion, achieved a bronze medal in the 10,000m final at the IAAF World Championships in Doha, finishing with a time of 26:50.32.

The 24-lap race was won by Uganda's Joshua Cheptegei in a World Leading time of 26:48.36, marking the first time Kenya had not secured gold in the event since 2001.

Despite initially leading the pack, Kipruto struggled to maintain his pace in the final stages of the race, ultimately finishing behind Cheptegei and Ethiopian Yomif Kejelcha, who secured silver with a personal best time of 26:49.34.

Kenyan runner Rodgers Kwemoi finished fourth in a personal best time of 26:55.36, while Alex Korio placed 11th.
