Timothy Owase, CEO of Kenya Film Commission, has a busy schedule that starts early in the morning. He wakes up at 5 am every day, prays, and reads one verse from the Bible. He then goes for a one-hour run, covering about five kilometres, before preparing for work and ensuring his children are ready for school.
As the CEO, Owase's role entails offering leadership and communication clarity of the commission's vision to internal and external stakeholders. His key responsibilities include making major corporate decisions, managing operations, and acting as the main point of communication between the board of directors and corporate operations.
Despite the challenges that come with his role, Owase remains focused and accountable. He believes in staying in his lane, being accommodative, and being prepared for the unexpected. He also emphasizes the importance of humility, citing his own journey from a small village in Busia to becoming the CEO of Kenya Film Commission.
Owase's greatest achievement is his role as CEO, which he recognizes as a testament to his hard work and preparation. He was recently awarded a certification as a certified film commissioner, the only one in Africa so far, by the Association of Film Commissioners International.
Outside of work, Owase spends time with his family and friends, enjoys sports and travelling, and attends church on Sundays. He believes in God and trusts that everything that happens is within His plans.
