Published on October 7, 2019, a video has emerged on social media featuring a Nairobi-based woman expressing her frustrations with Kenyans living in the United States.
The woman, identified as Nana, claims that Kenyans in the US often lecture those back home about the country's problems, but fail to acknowledge their own privileges and responsibilities.
‘Acheni kutusumbua tafadhali, we are busy people,’ Nana exclaims in the video.
She also accuses Kenyans abroad of developing a sense of pride after winning a green card, and failing to settle bills when they visit Kenya.
‘And then even those of you who went to America straight from Ushago and had never visited Nairobi before you got your Green Card and only passed through the City enroute to Jomo Kenyatta Airport ati sasa mnajifanya mnataka kukaa Kilimani area kwa sababu mmesikia watu wengine walikaa huko,’ she says.
Nana concludes by urging Kenyans in the US to ‘please please give us a break and use Google to get rental cars and apartments.’
