On October 7, 2019, Bandari Football Club made history by advancing to the second round of the Caf Confederation Cup, a feat no Coast team had achieved before.

Ugandan import William Wadri scored the lone goal that helped Bandari survive on an away goal decision, while goalkeeper Michael Wanyika saved a 60th-minute penalty.

Bandari was trailing 2-0 after Ricardo Alves Perreira's quick-fire brace in the fifth and 22nd minutes, but Wadri's goal ensured they sailed through to the next round.

This sets the stage for high-octane clashes with some of the continent's bigwigs, and Bandari's board of management deserves praise for their professionalism in the team's preparations.

According to Bernard Osero, Bandari's board vice chairman, their priority was a player-first approach, which included sending an advance party to look for the team's accommodation, transport logistics, and food whenever they traveled to a foreign country.

As the business grows, it should be reflected in our relationship with the society, Osero said, highlighting KPA's strong policy on corporate social investments and talent promotion through professional football.

With the play-offs looming, Bandari now have the perfect opportunity to showcase their star-studded squad, which includes recent acquisitions like Justine Ndikumana, Cliff Kasuti, and Mohammed Katana Agege.
