On the final day of the World IAAF Championships in Doha, Qatar, Kenya's Timothy Cheruiyot made history by winning the men's 1,500m final on October 7, 2019, securing the country's fifth gold medal.

Cheruiyot dominated the race, crossing the finish line in 3:29.26, ahead of Taoufik Makhloufi of Algeria (3:31.38) and Marcin Lewandowski of Poland (3:32.72).

Kenya's impressive performance at the championships saw the country finish second overall, with a total of 11 medals, including 5 gold, 2 silver, and 4 bronze medals.

The United States topped the medal table with a total of 29 medals, including 14 gold, 11 silver, and 4 bronze medals.
