On Sunday, Chelsea secured a crucial 4-1 win over struggling Southampton, with Tammy Abraham netting his eighth league goal of the season.
Abraham's goal, scored in the 17th minute, was the result of a clever pass from Callum Hudson-Odoi, and he looped the shot over advancing keeper Angus Gunn.
Chelsea's excellent first-half performance set the tone for the match, and they extended their lead in the 24th minute when Mason Mount blasted the ball past Gunn after taking a fine pass from Willian.
However, Southampton pulled one back through Danny Ings, who poked the ball in from close range after Yann Valery's darting run.
Despite Southampton's efforts, Chelsea's two-goal advantage was restored shortly before halftime, thanks to N'Golo Kante's fierce shot from outside the penalty area, which took a deflection off Pierre Hojbjerg.
Although the pace dropped in the second half, Chelsea's late substitute Michy Batshuayi sealed the win with a clinical 89th-minute finish.
With this victory, Chelsea moved into fifth place in the Premier League, behind fourth-placed Leicester on goal difference, while Southampton remained 16th on seven points, one point above the relegation zone.
