On October 6, 2019, the Labour Court issued an order stopping the appointment of Prof Anne Nangulu as principal of Bomet University College, effective immediately.

The court also barred Prof George Otieno and Prof Loice Maru from undertaking their duties as deputy principals, citing irregularities in the recruitment process.

The three were appointed by Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha on September 20, 2019, following interviews conducted by the Public Service Commission in June 2019.

The appointments were challenged by petitioner Julius Singoei, who argued that the law was not followed in the recruitment of the three.

Justice Nelson Abuodha ordered the three to refrain from carrying out their functions pending the hearing and determination of the petition.
