On Saturday night, a group of thieves hijacked a 14-seater matatu heading to Nairobi from Nyahururu town, leaving passengers shaken.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 9:30pm when one of the passengers requested to alight, prompting the driver to stop and remove a luggage from the carrier.
However, the passenger who had requested to alight turned out to be a robber, and four others emerged, taking control of the vehicle and ordering all passengers, including the driver, to lie down inside the matatu.
The vehicle was driven to an unknown location where the passengers were robbed of their cash and money in their M-Pesa and KCB M-Pesa accounts, totaling over Ksh.100,000, as well as electronics.
Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident.
After the robbery, the driver was given back the vehicle and drove to Lari Police Station, where he reported the matter.
