On Saturday, the body of Jack Ochieng, the South Kabuoch Ward administrator in Ndhiwa Sub-County, was discovered in a forest at Kodera in Rangwe Constituency. According to the County Police Commander Esther Seroney, the deceased had allegedly driven his car into the forest and left behind a suicide note written in Dholuo, instructing a woman to care for his child.

However, the reasons behind Ochieng's death remain unclear, with Seroney stating that investigations are ongoing to determine whether he took his own life. The deceased's vehicle was towed to Homa Bay Police station, and his body was moved to the Homa Bay County Referral Hospital morgue for a postmortem.

Acting Chief of North East Kanyamwa Location Jane Atieno reported that Ochieng was seen at the scene around 10 am, but he disappeared into the bush hours before his body was discovered. Atieno stated that some people claimed to have seen Ochieng that morning, but they did not follow him as they were unaware of his intentions.
