On September 22, 2019, Chetan Vyas, the former general manager of Rai Cement, was brutally murdered at his home in a shocking crime that has left investigators scrambling for clues.

As the investigation into Vyas' murder continues, detectives from the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have made a significant breakthrough, arresting three more suspects in connection with the crime.

According to DCI Director George Kinoti, the three suspects - 52-year-old Daniel Ruto, 42-year-old Michael Nicholas Mibei, and 32-year-old Hillary Cheruiyot Kemboi - were arrested at Kipsitet trading centre by detectives from the DCI headquarters.

Kinoti revealed that the suspects had destroyed a Samsung phone belonging to Vyas in an attempt to erase evidence, but the remains of the destroyed phone were recovered from the suspects.

"The killers are believed to have destroyed the phone in an attempt to try to erase traces of evidence," Kinoti said.

Additionally, several other SIM cards linked to other crimes were recovered from Mibei's house, further implicating the suspects in the murder.

The suspects have been placed in custody and are assisting in further investigations, bringing the total number of suspects arrested over Vyas' murder to eight.

Earlier on Saturday, five supervisors at the firm were arrested after extensive forensic investigations placed them at the scene of the crime.

The DCI is also investigating the aspect of terror in the murder of Vyas, and Kinoti cautioned companies that employ foreign-trained personnel to always seek clearance from the DCI, which is done through Interpol coordination.
