On Saturday, 5 October, a government official left many in shock after driving into a forest in Homa Bay County and taking his own life.

According to reports, Jack Ochieng, the South Kabuoch ward administrator, allegedly drove his car to a bush near Kodiera trading center in Homa Bay County.

His body was later discovered by curious locals who spotted a car parked by the roadside for long hours without anybody inside.

North East Kanyamwa Location Chief, Jane Atieno, stated that some people saw a vehicle parked for long with nobody inside, and they decided to move closer, finding the body dangling from a tree.

Esther Seroney, the Homa Bay County police commander, confirmed the discovery of the body.

A suicide note found in his car, written in Luo, did not disclose the reason for his actions but instructed a woman to take care of his child.
